The Roman Republic was a Roman faction with a Republic government, they eventually collapsed and were replaced by the Roman Empire.
The Roman Republic was responsible for the dethronement of Macedon, Sparta, and the Achaean League as major powers, leading to various hostilities with the Greeks.
History[]
After the Roman Revolution of 509 BCE in which the last Roman King Lucius Tarquinius Superbus was deposed, the Consuls of the Roman Senate declared that in the Kingdom's place, a new state, the "Res Publica" or entity of the people would be created. Therefore, the Roman Republic came into existence.
Eventually, the Roman Republic was overthrown and Gaius Octavius, later known as Augustus, became the first Roman Emperor. The Roman Republic Reestablishment Party attempted to reestablish the Republic, but ultimately fell out of popularity following a terrorist attack on the city of Vienna.
